Can I get married in Bled any day?
Weddings in Bled are permitted on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Days are limited depending also on religion – depending which religion on which day.

How far in advance do I need to book a wedding?
We suggest that this is done one year in advance as that gives us more than enough time to arrange all the details. If you are organising it as a last moment decision – it can be done about two months before the desired wedding date as relevant paperwork takes its time.

When do I need to pay for the wedding services?
When you choose a date you will be asked for a non-refundable deposit to secure the venues and the date. The rest is then paid approximately one month before the wedding is to take place.

Do I need both CIVIL and CHURCH wedding service?
In Slovenia Church and State are strictly separated. The service that gives a marriage international validity is the Civil service.

In which religion can I get married in Bled island church?
All Bled churches are Roman Catholic so the permitted religions are Catholic and Protestant.

Where can the Civil service can be held in Bled?
There are several locations: Bled registry office, Bled castle, Belvedere pavilion/Vila Bled, Grand Hotel Toplice, Hotel Ribno.

How does the organisation of the wedding commence?
Over 95% of our work is done over the email. The start is selection of wedding date, services required (civil or church or both), preparation of order of the day, etc. Throughout the organisational process we are in contact via email. You can also call us to check certain details but orders and decisions need to be passed on to us in a written form – email.

How do I choose the flowers of the wedding bouquet?
We encourage all our clients to be as individual with these decisions as possible. You can search the internet to find a bouquet that would be most suitable to your wishes. We will consult with our florist if that can be done and advice accordingly. Our initial costing will always consist of wedding bouquet made out of roses – if your chosen flowers are lilies or orchids in some cases you will be advised of a supplement prior to making any decisions or orders from our side.

How will I choose the wedding cake?
We recommend that you search for a cake that would meet your wishes on the internet and send us a picture of what you would like listing as many details as possible in regards to flavour, colour, shape. We will then consult with our partner to see if the cake as such can be done. Our initial costing always includes a simply round shaped cake – in certain cases where your wishes will exceed the budget we will advise of a possible supplement before making any decisions.

How do you plan the number of boats, quantity of sparkling wine, catering-canapes?
This is always planned in conjunction with your wishes. We will always start with the basic minimum required with these services so that the event can be carried out without a hick up. If extra quantities are required you should tell us.

How will I choose the restaurant?
We only work with restaurants that have proven to offer excellent service in the past. We can send you pictures of venues, maximum capacities and a choice of their menus. On the basis of that you will be asked to make a decision on which restaurant would suit your needs the most.

Do I need to choose a menu? How about if I do not like a certain dish?
For any major event such as a wedding a menu has to be chosen in order for the food to be prepared properly and served at the same time. If on the menus sent to you by ourselves you do not like a certain dish ie main course, you can replace it with another and pass the menu back to us for pricing.

How about drinks with the evening meal?
This is a subject to individual agreement. A set amount can be placed on the tables or a set amount to be put behind the bar. Several other alternatives exist and you will be asked about this in the course of the planning process.
How many days before the wedding do we need to get there?
There are no legal restrictions as to how long in advance you need to be in Slovenia before the wedding day as all of the paperwork is handled by us. We recommend that you are in Bled 3 days before the wedding to arrange all the minor details.

When do we need to produce witnesses documents?
When you send your documents over to us – simply include the passport photocopies of the witnesses.

How do I get my dress steam-pressed?
This service is offered only by some of the hotels in Bled. Please ask us individually depending on where you are staying and we will advise the closest possible place.

Is there a ‘dress rehearsal/wedding practice – when should this take place and what happens? Who do I need at the dress rehearsal/wedding practice?
At the time of the pre-wedding meeting which generally takes place 2 – 3 days before the wedding we will explain all the details. If needed we will visit some of the locations – but not all (island not) due to logistics. We prepare the couples well to know what to do in each section of the wedding and the guests are guided by our wedding co-ordinators on the wedding day.

When will I have my hair and makeup trials? Will I be able to send pictures in advance of what I like?
The hair and make up try-outs take place a couple of days beforehand and if you wish you can either send pictures in advance or simply have them with you when you are here.

What time will the wedding ceremony take place? Should it be earlier because of daylight/photography?
Please note we do not appoint the times of the services. These are appointed by the registrar or the priest. We work the photography segments according to the times given by registrar and church. When we book the wedding date we are given the provisional time that might change slightly until one month before when we get a final confirmation.

Venues throughout the day

Castle – are we allowed to decorate it?
The castle itself no – restaurant yes.

Is it possible to have fairy lights and candles in the restaurant?
Yes

Is it possible to have a board with a seating plan on it?
Yes.

When will we have access to the restaurant to start decorating? The morning? The day before?
Please note that the decoration side needs to be left to the restaurant staff. You can prepare the details and the plan – but the preparations start about 2 hours before the arrival of the wedding party and not sooner.

Island Restaurant
Can drinks be served in the restaurant whilst photography sessions are taking place?
Yes.

Island Church
Would it be appropriate to have all the guests listen to a solo singer and a reading in the church followed by the ringing of the wishing bell and then photography session whilst the guests go to the island restaurant for drinks?

Yes.

Pletna boats
What do we do if it rains? Can large umbrellas be provided?

If it rains only slightly – we can continue with the pletnas as they do have a roof – it it rains badly electric covered boats are provided.
How many people can fit in each pletna boat?
Each pletna can take 15 people.
Are the bride and groom in a separate pletna boat or with the wedding party?
Generally with the wedding party unless otherwise agreed. Often a bridal boat is assigned only for the couple and immediate family.

Horse and Carriage
What do we do if it rains? Can large umbrellas be provided?

If it rains slightly the carriage do have a roof – if it rains badly – the carriage is then changed for a taxi.

Transport
Can we have a quote for a coach to take guests up to the castle from the Pletna boat bay?

Yes.
Can we have taxis provided on a shuttle basis up until early hours of the morning?
Yes – stand by minibuses are paid on an hourly rate.

Photography and Videography
When/where will the photos take place?

The photographer starts his/her work from before the guests leave the hotel until the point when all sit down to have the evening meal. The photos and filming are taken on all locations – some staged and some natural.
Is it possible to have the speeches videoed if we’re having them at the start of the meal?
Yes – if the speeches take place at a later time – it can be done but at a supplement.
Although the videographer will work for 4 hours, what will the duration of the edited DVD version be?
The videographer prepares a DVD that is divided into sections – in total of about 45 minutes – please note this varies depending on each wedding (church only, civil only, both, with or without the speeches). With the edited version you are also presented with as rough material if at any stage you would like to re-edit certain material.
Do you need to know the colour scheme?
Yes – please as that helps a lot.

Reception
What is the situation with the drinks?

This varies from wedding to wedding and several things are possible; the couple pays for all the drinks or only the first round of drinks which is served is at the expense of the couple – the rest the guests pay them selves or a set amount of money is given behind the bar or only specific drinks (beer/wine/soft) are at the expense of the couple and the rest is up to the guests or everybody pays for his/her own drinks. Variations are possible.
Could we possibly have late-night snacks served? E.g sandwiches or mini-pizzas?

Afterwards
Would we have to clean up the venue/arrange for removal of our decorations?

No this is included in the cost of the menu you choose.
