Mark Mc Grath (From Ireland) WEDDING STORY - published in one of our bridal magazines (Moja poroka) A Wedding is usually perceived as wonderful or perfect. We had a dream what our wedding day was going to be like, with our family and friends sharing this magical moment with us. We certainly wanted to make our wedding day like a dream come true. First of all we tried to imagine, where would be the ideal place for us to get married. The location was crucial for us. We couldn’t really have chosen a better location than Bled. The Alps, the lake, the island, the castle, all the natural beauty, were speaking for itself. It was just the meaning of love. Then everything was just a matter of mental and practical organisation to make us happy during our special day. Overall we are thinking that our wedding day was beyond the scope of our imagination.
FOR US, THIS DAY WAS SIMPLY UNFORGETTABLE
For us, this day was simply unforgettable and will stay intact in our memories forever. We shared our union with the most important people of our lifes. It was one of the most beautiful days of our lives, and the emotions. We were very lucky with the weather, which blessed us with crystal blue skies over Bled. The whole day went from start to finish without a single problem; everything went according to plan and more. The whole organisation of the event was amazing, we did not have to worry about any of our guests as they were wanting for nothing, and we simply enjoyed every moment during the day. PREPARATONS
The preparations were remarkably easy considering we were having it in a foreign country where we cannot speak the language. The main co-ordination of the wedding was done by Iztok and his wife from Primavera Bled. Not only did they organise with all the local event people but they were always so enthusiastic as if we were the only people getting married on earth. The ideas that they gave to us to add those extra special moments were remarkable. They always were reassuring us that everything would be all right on the day and that there was nothing for us to worry about as that was their job. DEAREST MOMENTS
The atmosphere that Bled itself brought to us and the guests was for us the amazing thing. Our friends and family flew to Slovenia from Ireland, France and Russia and as soon as arrived they felt they were in a winter wonderland. The country is at one of its most beautiful times in winter, with the snow on the mountains, the Christmas decorations in the Capital city and has a very joyful atmosphere.
The key to our day was that throughout the day all our guests had smiles on their faces as well as all the locals who were in Bled for their daily walk around the lake. PRECIOUS MEMORIES
The most precious moment for the groom was the first moment that his bride-to-be walked into the castle grounds from under the archway. Her beauty and the splendour of the location really took his breath away. The little surprises that were organised for the bride made the day fantastic and unpredictable. We release two homing doves from the castle, which flew back to Ljubljana with messages of our love for each other wrapped on their feet.
We also had a magician in the castle in period costume who entertained the guests with magically appearing doves out of nowhere.
The celebration of marriage was finished off on the island with a firework display which captivated the bride and all the guests. The echoes through the valleys were amazing. UNEXPECTED - BUT WELCOME
What we did not expect was to be greeted in the castle grounds by four people in local costume. It was a very nice touch and while it was all in Slovenian we felt that it captured the feeling of being in a fantastic country where they are so proud of their heritage. We did have a fantastic translator there for the day and he helped in all speeches that were made. |
